SPIRIT OF CHILDREN

Spirit of Children is a charitable initiative that Spirit Halloween launched to make hospital stays less scary for children. Since its inception in 2006, the program has grown from supporting 11 hospitals to benefiting over 160 children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada

Why It Matters

  • Emotional & Therapeutic Value: Child Life Specialists use funds from the program to help children cope with the stress of medical treatments, procedures, and hospitalization.

  • Community Engagement: Donations from local stores stay local, meaning the hospitals nearby benefit directly from client support.

  • Visible Impact: The cowbell ringing is a joyful, symbolic gesture that connects shoppers to a greater cause

How Funds Are Used:

  • Support therapy programs: art, music, aquatic, and pet therapy

  • Provide sensory and distraction equipment for patients

  • Supply costumes, art materials, toys, and other festive items for seasonal celebrations
